Los Cerros de San Juan is the
oldest and one of the most prestigious
cellars of Uruguay. Established in 1854 is
now National Monument of Uruguay.
The Cerros de San Juan region, spanning
rolling hills and bordering the San Juan
river and the River Plate, features sunny
summers with cool nights, creating a wide
variation in temperatures (up to 18ºC). The
suitability of the soils for wine growing
in the Cerros de San Juan region is due to
the rocky nature of the mountains which
border the region , with excellent drainage.
The colonial buildings of Los Cerros de San
Juan, constructed in the second half of the
XIX century, are characteristic of the era
and reflects the history of the region. The
preservation of this building allows
visitors to appreciate the heritage left
behind by their forefathers.
